What land records can tell us--Tithe Applotments

The Tithe Applotments for Tipperary were primarily done in the late 1820s and very early 1830s. This was before either Patrick was married to their particular Bridget. A search of all Patrick Mahers, in the Tithe Applotments only list two for the Parish of Buolick. No parish of Kilkooley is listed.



But this isn't the whole story. If we look at all of the records for the Parish of Buolick, we find something interesting:


James Mullally in Ballynastick! Did James give land to Patrick Maher for him and Bridget to live on. You'll also note two Mulhall in Buolick. One may be the father of the other Bridget.

The entry for Maher without a Forename is for the "Widow Maher".

So, is Ellen 1847's grandfather one of these Maher's?
